Henri Izard named as Screaming Eagles Assistant Coach

Press Release

Sydney – Screaming Eagles General Manager and Head Coach Marc-Andre Dumont announced today that Henri Izard has been hired as the team's new Assistant Coach.  The position was previously held by Jean-Francois David.

"Hank (Izard) is a great addition to our hockey staff", said Marc-Andre Dumont. "He brings experience and knowledge to a group of players that needs to develop and grow. He will be working with the group of defencemen mainly and there is no doubt that he represents very well the values we want to instill on the team. He is passionate about the game and he is a leader".

The 45 year old native of Montreal, Quebec, takes a leave of absence from his teaching position at CEGEP Ste-Foy.  Prior to his career as a teacher, Izard earned a physical education degree, specialization in hockey, from Université de Montreal.  He was one of 22 candidates that applied for the position.

"I am excited to join a first-class organization like the Screaming Eagles,” commented Hank Izard. “I look forward to contributing to the development of the players and the team and continue growing as a coach. It is very motivating to be joining an up and coming young group of players and I can’t wait to get started in August.”

Hank Izard has over 20 years of coaching experience and has spent the last three seasons as associate coach at St-Lawrence College in Quebec City where the team won the league championship in each of these three seasons.  He has also coached the Patriotes of CEGEP Saint-Laurent as well as spending time coaching in the Quebec Midget AAA league and the Quebec Junior AAA league.

Izard also has scouting experience with the McGill Redmen and playing experience in Junior A and Collegial Major in Quebec.  He is married and has 3 children.
