Lancers Defenseman Commits to University of Notre Dame

 The Omaha Lancers announced that defenseman Ben Ostlie has committed to play college hockey at the University of Notre Dame following his USHL career.

Ostlie, who recently celebrated his 20th birthday, is in his second season with the Lancers and has collected 14 points (1g, 13a) and 91 penalty minutes in 59 games this season.  The defenseman put together a four-game point streak this season when he dished out five assists from March 2-13 and also posted a plus-five rating during that stretch.  Ostlie first played for the Lancers last season after being selected in the 2011 USHL Entry Draft and dished out an assist in his first USHL game on September 30th, 2011.  Over his career in the USHL, he has recorded 23 points (2g, 21a) and 146 penalty minutes in 113 games played.  The Edina, Minnesota native has also recorded one assist and a plus-three rating over four career playoff games in the League.

A total of 12 other current USHL players are also committed to play hockey at the University of Notre Dame, including Andrew Oglevie (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Justin Wade (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Ali Thomas (Des Moines Buccaneers), Jordan Gross (Green Bay Gamblers), Nathan Billitier (Team USA), Anders Bjork (Team USA), Dawson Cook (Team USA), Kevin Labanc (Team USA), Sonny Milano (Team USA), Joe Wegwerth (Team USA), Vince Hinostroza (Waterloo Black Hawks), and Cal Petersen (Waterloo Black Hawks).

Notre Dame was a member of the CCHA this season and had 23 USHL alumni on the roster, the most of any school in the conference; Jared Beers (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Jeff Costello (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), David Gerths (Green Bay/Lincoln), Stephen Johns (Team USA), Mike Johnson (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Nick Larson (Waterloo Black Hawks), Anders Lee (Green Bay Gamblers), Kevin Lind (Chicago Steel), Kevin Nugent (Tri-City Storm), Robbie Russo (Team USA), Bryan Rust (Team USA), Steven Summerhays (Green Bay Gamblers), T.J. Tynan (Des Moines Buccaneers), Mike Voran (Sioux Falls Stampede), Austin Wuthrich (Team USA), Eric Johnson (Dubuque Fighting Saints), Peter Schneider (Indiana Ice), Sam Herr (Green Bay Gamblers), Thomas DiPauli (Team USA), Andy Ryan (Sioux City/Green Bay/Team USA), Steven Fogarty (Chicago Steel), Mario Lucia (Team USA), and Garrett Peterson (Lincoln Stars).
