Late rally allows Terriers to complete comeback win over Clippers

A pair of third-period goals allowed the Yorkton Terriers to pull out a come-from-behind 4-3 win over the Nanaimo Clippers Saturday night at the Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup.

The teams traded two goals each in the first with Jeremy Johnson and Tayler Thompson tallying for the Terriers and Greg Fraser and Matt Grant scoring for the Clips.

Early in the second, Colton Dahlen gave the host club a 3-2 lead going into the final frame and it looked like it might hold until Johnson got his second of the night at 13:11 of the third. Devon McMullen potted thw winner with just under four minutes to go.

Dawson MacAuley turned away 39 shots to get the win in the Yorkton crease while Derek Dun made 31 stops for Nanaimo.

Yorkton is in action Sunday, playing the Steinbach Pistons of Manitoba at 2 p.m. while the Clippers play the Brooks Bandits at 7 p.m.
