Mike Dietrich of the Minnesota Wilderness named Pizza Hut – SIJHL player of the year

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Mike Dietrich of the Minnesota Wilderness has been named Pizza Hut player of the year, emblematic of the SIJHL’s most valuable player.

The 20-year-old native of South Hampton, N.J. earned the accolades over fellow nominees Jordan Christianson of the Fort Frances Lakers and Chris Belhumeur of the Dryden Ice Dogs in voting done by each of the SIJHL’s member clubs.

During the course of the 2012-13 regular season, the Wilderness captain led all SIJHL skaters in offensive production accumulating 77 points in just 46 games on 28 goals and 49 assists.
The forward’s tally total tied for the fifth-best number in the league and was knotted for the best assist numbers overall.

Dietrich also shared the SIJHL-lead in game-winning goals with six and paced all league players in point-per-game average at 1.67.
