RBC SJHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH - March

Press Release

RBC SJHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Joey Davies, Humboldt Broncos
1992 F Joey Davies (Demorestville ON) led all players with 11-goals and 3-assists in 10-playoff games during the month of March as the Humboldt Broncos are now in a position to repeat as Canalta Cup champions.  Davies scored eight times in the final four games of the North Division semi-final series against Melfort and then followed it up 3-goals and 2-assists in a 5-games series win over Flin Flon, factoring in on 50% of his team’s goals against the Bombers.

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE MONTH
Brady Norrish, Yorkton Terriers
1993 D Brady Norrish (Strongfield SK) scored 5-goals and 3-assists in 11-games played in the month of March, saving his best work for the Sherwood Division finals in the six game series win over the Melville Millionaires.  Norrish had two goals and two assists in the series clinching game, but his ability to make contributions from anywhere on the ice while keeping his decisions responsible defensively poses a lot of match-up problems for opposing teams.  Norrish finished the Melville series with 4-goals and 2-assists in 6-games played.

SJHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH
Sam Aulie, Notre Dame Hounds
1994 F Sam Aulie (Lumsden SK) found his first half form in the Sherwood Division semi-finals as he tallied 4-goals and 1-assist in 7-games played in helping the Hounds push the Melville Millionaires to the maximum seven games before bowing out in the deciding game.  Aulie scored in each of the first three games of the series and then added another in game seven to try and provide a spark before the Hounds, inevitably, came up short.

SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH
Matt Hrynkiw, Humboldt Broncos
1992 G Matt Hrynkiw (Saskatoon SK) has continued his magical regular season into the playoffs as he posted an impressive 8-and-2 record to go along with a 1.93-GAA and .935-SPCT.  Hrynkiw was, exceptionally, good against the Flin Flon Bombers in their five game series victory as he backstopped the Broncos to three overtime wins, two of which were double overtime affairs.  In the last two games of the series, Hrynkiw stopped 81-of-83 shots in 152 minutes played (0.78-GAA, .976-SPCT).
