Santaguida stops 50 as Eagles go up 2-0

Press Release

Michael Santaguida made 50 saves to earn his fourth shutout of the playoffs as the Surrey Eagles defeated the Penticton Vees 2-0 Saturday night to take a 2-0 series lead in the Fred Page Cup BCHL Finals.

Demico Hannoun's power-play goal in the first period proved to be the winner and Nic Pierog added insurance in the second, beating Chad Katunar with a snap shot high to the blocker side.

Santaguida made 21 saves in the final frame to preserve the goose egg. He was named 1st Star.

Games 3 and 4 will be played at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton on Monday and Tuesday. Game 5, if necessary, will be back in Surrey on Thursday, April 18.
