The San Jose Jr. Sharks, members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), have announced that 18U forward Matt Woodley has signed an NAHL tender with the Springfield Jr. Blues. The Jr. Blues compete in the NAHL’s North Division.
Woodley, 18, just completed his first season with the
Sharks 18U team in the NAPHL. During the regular season, Woodley
(6’1/193) was third in team scoring with 23 points (11 goals, 12
assists) in 21 NAPHL games. He also recorded 10 points in the playoffs
during the NAPHL Championship Series, in which the Sharks won the Silver
(Consolation) bracket.
During the 2011-12 season, Woodley played for the Sharks
16U team, which was then coached by current Jr. Blues head coach Tony
Zasowski. Woodley had a great season and was named to the All-NAPHL 16U
2nd Team.
He was also honored as a Pointstreak Peak Performer during
that season in September of 2011 for his performance at the 2011 NAHL
Showcase.
Woodley is the first player off of this year’s San Jose 18U team to sign an NAHL tender.
