Sharks Sign Center Chris Tierney

SAN JOSE, California – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has signed center Chris Tierney to a three-year entry level contract. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Tierney, 18, finished fifth on the London Knights (OHL) with 57 points (18-39=57) in 68 games. He was part of a Knights team that boasted an OHL best 50-13-2-3 record and he had the fourth most assists on the team. He also added six points (one goal, five assists) in four OHL playoff games.

“Chris has played an important role on a very talented team in London,” said Wilson. “The Hunter brothers have done a phenomenal job working with Chris and we are excited to help him take the next step in his career.”

In three seasons with London, Tierney has appeared in 180 regular season games posting 102 points (32-70=102).

The six-foot, 190-pound native of Keswick, Ontario was selected by San Jose in the second round (55th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
