SHAW COMMITS TO SACRED HEART

Press Release

Aurora Tigers defenceman Tyler Shaw has confirmed his commitment to join the Sacred Heart University Pioneers beginning with the 2013-14 Atlantic Hockey season.

The Sudbury, Ontario native joined the OJHL's Markham Waxers in 2010-11 after playing in the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves program.  The 18-year old rookie rearguard would taste success early, notching seven assists in 42 regular season games played for the Waxers and then potting his first junior goal during the club's short playoff run.  By year two, Shaw was one of the club's leaders on the blueline, named an alternate captain while finishing third among defencemen in scoring with 21 assists and 24 points.  With the Waxers taking a year hiatus following the season, Shaw joined a division rival in the Aurora Tigers and was instrumental in helping the club capture its first North Division title since 2006-07.  He would lead the Tigers defensive corps in scoring with 17 assists and 19 points, while also being named a member of the North Division All-Star Team that competed at the 2012 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge that took place in Wellington, Ontario.

Congratulations to Tyler and best of luck as he moves on to the next level!
