Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers ownership group consisting of Tom Gaglardi, Shane Doan, Jarome Iginla, Mark Recchi and Darryl Sydor is pleased to announce that a multi-year contract extension has been agreed upon with Vice-President and General Manager Craig Bonner.
“Craig has done a tremendous job improving the Kamloops Blazers over the past five seasons,” commented President / Governor Tom Gaglardi. “Craig has built a solid foundation and has positioned us for continued success moving forward. He has provided the stability, leadership and foresight necessary to create a program that will continue to allow the Blazers to be competitive year after year.”
Bonner joined the Blazers as the team’s Vice-President and General Manager on April 25, 2008. Under Bonner’s leadership, the list of accomplishments include: B.C. Division Championship in 2011-12, back-to-back 47-win seasons, 16 playoff victories over the past two seasons, advancing to the Western Conference Championship series this past spring before falling to the WHL Champion Portland Winterhawks.
This will be Bonner’s 16th season with the Kamloops Blazers during three different roles as a player from 1989-93, Assistant Coach 1996-02 and General Manager 2008 - Present. Bonner won two WHL Championships as a player with the Blazers in 1990 and 1992. He also won a Memorial Cup with the Blazers in 1992.
As an Assistant General Manager and Assistant Coach with the Vancouver Giants from 2002-08, Bonner won a WHL Championship in 2006 and a Memorial Cup in 2007.
