The Nanaimo Clippers are pleased to announce that 19 year old forward Zach Sabatini has committed to play for the team for the 2013-2014 season. Zach will play one season for the Clippers before joining NCAA Div.1 Sacred Heart Pioneers in the Fall of 2014. He joins the Clippers after playing last season for Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts as well the Neponset Valley River Rats U18 Tier 1 Program in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The 5’11” 160lb native of Johns Creek, Georgia played in 60 games between the two teams tallying 37 goals and 37 assists for 74 points. He helped the Neponset Valley U18s win the Tier 1 USA National Championship by defeating the St. Louis Blues U18s in overtime in the final. During that game Zach scored two goals, including tying the game with 8 seconds left to send it to overtime.
Coach Vandekamp: “We are very excited to add Zach to our roster for the upcoming season. He is a fast, skilled, forward, who plays with passion and tenacity every shift. He competes hard at all times and can certainly score goals. Having gotten to know Zach over the past couple of weeks, I have been impressed with his enthusiasm for the game, his desire to get better, and his personality. I am confident that he is going to fit in very well with our group and I look forward to helping Zach be ready to contribute at Sacred Heart University in the Fall of 2014. We’d like to welcome Zach and his Family to the Clippers Family and look forward to seeing him on the ice in August.”
