Generals Top pick Mitchell Vande Sompel commits to Oshawa

Press Release

Oshawa Generals General Manager Jeff Twohey announced today that the team has signed defenceman Mitchell Vande Sompel to a standard OHL agreement.

Mitchel was originally selected by the Generals in the 1st round, 14th overall in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection.  A native of London, Ontario, Mitchell had a tremendous year with the London Jr. Knights – Gold, scoring 9 goals and 32 points in 23 games.

“We are extremely happy to have Mitchell committed to the Generals,” said Jeff Twohey.  “He is a young man that is very mature and knows what he wants.  He will be a good addition to our team, both as a player and as a future leader, and will play a prominent role in growing with our young group of players over the next four years.”

Mitchell recently competed in the OHL Gold Cup for Team Alliance, where he scored a goal and an assist in 5 games and took Bronze.
