St. Michael's Buzzers forward Stephen Pietrobon (photo credit - Mike Ivall/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Niagara University Purple Eagles beginning with the 2013-14 Atlantic Hockey season.
The Toronto, Ontario native and product of the Toronto Red Wings 'AAA' organization, would join the Toronto Marlboros for his final season of minor hockey in 2010-11, also joining the Buzzers for his first three games of junior as an affiliate. The following season he joined the league fulltime as a member of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. The 17-year old rookie finished 10th on the club in scoring with 19 points in 47 games played and would fall to St. Michael's in the playoffs. Buzzers management would see something they liked in the youngster and picked him up from the Jr. Canadiens in the off-season.
The lanky 6'3", 202 lbs. forward would be one of the club's key acquistions that would ultimately lead to their first league title since 2006. Pietrobon would record 30 points during the regular season, earning a spot on the OJHL South Division All-Star Team that would compete at the 2012 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge that was held in Wellington, Ontario. He would notch another 12 points during the club's lengthy run to the Buckland Cup title, including a key overtime-winner versus North York in the Conference Championship. Playing his final OJHl games at the 2012 Dudley-Hewitt Cup in North Bay, Ontario, Pietrobon took his game to another level, recording four points in five games as the Buzzers fell in overtime of the championship game to the SIJHL champion Minnesota Wilderness.
Congratulations to Stephen and best of luck in his NCAA career!
