Barrie Set to Host NHL Pre-season Game

Barrie, ON (June 11, 2013) – The New York Islanders will play one of their pre-season home games in Barrie, Ontario at the Barrie Molson Centre against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013. Game time will be 6 pm. 

“The New York Islanders are excited about the opportunity to host a game in Barrie, one of Canada’s true hockey communities,” New York Islanders General Manager Garth Snow said.  “With several of our players such as John Tavares and Josh Bailey having been a part of the OHL, we know how passionate fans are about hockey.”

“The Barrie Molson Centre is recognized as one of the top facilities in the Ontario Hockey League and we’re looking forward to being able to play a game there,” said Senators general manager Bryan Murray. “As an Ontario-based team, we’re excited to bring our team to a different part of the province and meet some of our fans in what is a vibrant hockey community”.

The Barrie Colts are bringing the exhibition game to Barrie and to provide the local community with greater access to national level hockey. “We decided to bring this game here to Barrie to give all of our fans the chance to see an NHL game here in our own rink. We’re very excited to be a part of this and I’m sure it will be a very exciting event”, said Howie Campbell, President of the Colts.

Barrie Colts season ticket holders will have the first opportunity to purchase tickets and have been notified as to how to purchase them. Tickets for the general public will go on sale on July 2nd, 2013.

Ticket prices are from $89.00 to $120.00 (plus taxes and service charges if bought online) and will available at www.barriecolts.com or at www.ticketbreak.com and will be available at the Colts office at the BMC, starting July 2nd 2013.
