Cougars Announce New Radio Partnership With Vista Radio's 94X And Plans for 20th Anniversary Season

This season you will hear Cougars games on a new radio station. This afternoon the Prince George Cougars and Vista Radio’s 94X announced that the two sides have come to terms on a radio rights partnership. As part of this partnership, 94X will be the new home for all Prince George Cougars radio broadcasts.

94X’s Prince George Cougars coverage will be led by play-by-play broadcaster Dan O’Connor who is entering his third season as “The voice of the Cougars.” Joining O’Connor in the booth will be 94X Sports Director Hartley Miller who has over 30 years of experience on the Prince George airwaves.

Vista Radio operates more than 60 radio licenses and numerous online community portals serving audiences across British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and the Northwest Territories. Vista was founded in 2004 by Paul Mann, Jason Mann, Margot Micallef, Bryan Edwards, and Barbara Fairclough with a vision of creating a strong broadcast voice in Canada's regional and mid-markets by providing top quality local programming, engagement and service.

Vista now employs over 300 full and part time people, working to connect people to people, products & services that enhance the quality of their lives.

In addition to the new radio partnership the Prince George Cougars are set to celebrate their 20th season in the Western Hockey League and they have a number of exciting promotions planned.

To kick things off in style, the Prince George Cougars will wear commemorative 20th anniversary jerseys on opening night.  These limited edition, specialty jerseys will be auctioned off with the proceeds benefitting local charity.

Over the course of the season, fans will be treated to a wide variety of promotions including theme nights, retro discount nights, amazing prizes and events.  There will be a focus on the the Prince George Cougars alumni as they will be celebrated and acknowledged through a number of interactive alumni-related activities for fans to get involved in. The Cougars and Vista Radio will be working closely to ensure that our fans are treated to the best experience possible.

“It's amazing that we have had the privilege to call Prince George home for 20 years.  It’s very important to us that we celebrate this milestone with our fans, our friends,” said Prince George Cougars Vice President Brandi Brodsky. “We want our community to be involved and engaged all season long, and build on that for the future.  We intend to revive the energy in the building and bring back the excitement and electricity you could feel as you walked into the rink on game day, knowing all your friends would be there alongside you to cheer on the Cats.  Our goal is to give our fans the experience they remember from the past.  We know this will take hard work by the entire organization, and we are ready, excited and up for the challenge.”
