Pats Solidify Business Operations Staff

Press Release

Regina, Saskatchewan – As a part of the Regina Pats Hockey Club’s current restructuring, Senior V.P. and General Manager Chad Lang has announced Cliff Mapes will enter into a multi-year agreement with an expanded role as the Vice-President of Business Operations.

“I need to start by thanking Brent, Russ and Diane Parker for the opportunity they gave me almost nine years ago to become a Regina Pat,” said Mapes.  “I’m thankful to Chad and appreciate the confidence he has shown in me.  I’m extremely excited to work more closely with him and for the opportunities that lay ahead of us in the future.”

Mapes joined the Pats as Director of Marketing/Corporate Sales prior to the 2006-06 WHL Season.  During his eight seasons with the Pats he sat on the board for the 2010 World Junior Championships, worked with local charities on numerous fundraising initiatives and, in recent years, he represented the East Division on the Western Hockey League Marketing Executives Board.

“Cliff has been a valued employee for a number of years with the organization,” added Lang.  “His experience and knowledge with, not only our organization, but the strong relationships he has developed with our corporate sponsors and fans will be beneficial as we look to take advantage of the opportunities before us.  He will continue to take a lead role in the business operations and we are excited to have secured him as we move forward.”

The club also announced a new multi-year agreement with Director of Game Day Operations, Joel Pickering.  Joining the Pats prior to the 2006-07 season as the team’s Communications Coordinator.  His role evolved to its current state as the Director of Game Day Operations managing the Pats game night presentation as well as other special projects including the presentation for the Western Canadian Agribition Rodeo.

“I am very happy for Joel,” continued Mapes.  “I’ve had the opportunity to work with him for the past six seasons and watch him grow into a valuable member of our staff.  Joel has the experience and the vision we need to move forward recreating our game night presentation.  His knowledge of how to execute and script our game nights will go a long way to improving our fan experience.”
