Press Release
Not long after it was made known that Slammers Head Coach Jason Tatarnic would not be behind the bench for the Slammers in 2013-14, team President Amdrew McCain announcced on Tuesday that former Slammers Justin Bowers would take on the role.
Justin is a familiar face to the Slammer fans from his outstanding career as a championship-winning team captain. Since he graduated from the Slammers program, he has gone on to success at the university and professional levels. After enjoying a solid University career with the St. Thomas Tommies, Bowers enjoyed stints with several ECHL, AHL and CHL clubs.
"During all the years Justin has maintained contact with us showing a keen interest in the team", said McCain in a release. "Justin is a leader having worn a letter throughout his entire career. From the time we drafted him, he has bled Slammer green. He has always been a student of the game and although this is his first coaching assignment, his hockey knowledge, professional experience and enthusiasm for the project at hand led to a unanimous vote from the selection committee".
“I am very excited about this opportunity and my return to Woodstock. There will be a few bumps in the road as I learn this craft, but the support staff that the team is providing will help me adapt to coaching life. I look forward to seeing all the great Woodstock fans again and starting the process of building another championship team” commented Justin Bowers.
