VEES ADD TO FORWARD DEPTH

PENTICTON, BC–The Penticton Vees Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce the commitment of forward Matt Serratore (94) for the 2013-2014 season.

Vees Head Coach and General Manager Fred Harbinson is excited to have Serratore in the fold, “We are very pleased Matt chose Penticton for the next phase of his hockey development.  It is evident the Matt has all the attributes we look for in a player.”

Serratore calls Bemidji, Minnesota home and comes to Penticton after completing his senior season of high school hockey in his hometown. Serratore led the Bemidji Lumberjacks in scoring in the regular season, tallying 21 goals and 31 points in 25 games. In the Section playoffs, Serratore put up four goals in two games, helping lead the Lumberjacks to their Section Semi-Finals. Serratore played three seasons of Varsity for Bemidji High School, amassing 49 goals and 91 points in 80 regular season games.

Serratore is described as a tenacious player; with a very high compete level. Two trademarks that were on display at the Vees recently completed Spring Camp in late May notes Harbinson, “Matt did an outstanding job at our recent Spring Camp.  Our entire scouting and coaching staff were impressed with the determination in which Matt approached each and every shift.”

Serratore comes from a hockey family, as both his father and uncle are head coaches of Division l NCAA programs. Father Tom is the Head Coach at Bemidji State University, and has served behind the bench since 2001; the Beavers play in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). Matt’s uncle Frank Serratore is the Head Coach at Air Force.

The Vees would also like to welcome Brendon Kerr to the staff as an Assistant Trainer and Assistant Equipment Manager. Kerr comes to the organization after spending three seasons with the Powell River Kings. Prior to working in the BCHL, the Thunder Bay, Ontario native spent six years as the Equipment Manager of Lake University Men’s hockey team.

The Vees would like to welcome both Matt and Brendon to Penticton and the South Okanagan.
