BATTAINO HIRED AS NEXT JACKS BROADCASTER

Press Release

ODESSA, TX – Michigan native Joey Battaino has been hired as the Odessa Jackalopes’ new Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations, the team announced Saturday. Before coming to Odessa, Battaino served time as the radio voice of the now-defunct Flint Generals of the IHL and the NAHL’s Michigan Warriors.

“I’m very blessed to have been given this opportunity to work for the Odessa Jackalopes,” said Battaino Saturday, “I’m very excited to get down to Odessa and get started.” A graduate of the Specs Howard School for the Broadcast Arts, Battaino will call the action for every Jackalopes exhibition, regular season and playoff game and host the weekly “Jacks Power Hour” Radio Show on the Jacks’ flagship station, Classic Rock 102, KFZX 102.1 FM.

“Joey is a young guy with a lot of experience in this league already,” said Jackalopes Team President Dan Lavergne, “He came highly recommended from [outgoing broadcaster] Tony Brown and he’s got some big shoes to fill, but he seems like a great fit for us. We can’t wait to get him to Odessa and get ready for next season.”

In addition to his broadcasting duties, Battaino will head up the Jackalopes’ advertising efforts, coordinate all organizational media relations, maintain the team’s website and social media campaigns and contribute to team sales initiatives. Battaino succeeds former Jackalopes broadcaster Tony Brown, now the radio voice of the USHL’s Omaha Lancers.
