Press Release
JOHNSTOWN, PA – The Johnstown Tomahawks will hold their main tryout camp July 25-28 at Planet Ice in Johnstown, PA. The camp will feature elite junior players invited from the organization’s three summer tryout camps, in addition to tendered and returning players, all competing for a spot on the team’s roster. A special All-Star Game consisting of the best remaining players will be open to the public on Sunday, July 28.
“We have a lot of tough decisions to make regarding our roster over the next few weeks,” said Assistant Coach Mike Letizia. “We have invited only the absolute best players to our main camp. We are looking for high-caliber young men with the best character and high-quality work ethic to fit into the kind of team we are trying to build. The biggest thing for each player to do is bring something to the table that the next guy doesn’t.”
At tryout camps in Mt. Clemens, Mich., Prior Lake, Minn., and Warrendale, Pa., young men came from around the United States, Canada and Europe to impress Head Coach Jason Spence, Letizia, and the team’s scouting staff.
On July 28, the Tomahawks invite fans to watch the All-Star Game, beginning at 11 a.m. Those attending will have access to ticket information, and team representatives will be available to answer any questions. In addition, merchandise will be sold in the lobby.
“We’re excited to take this next big step in the process of preparing for the 2013-14 season,” said General Manager Rick Boyd. “It will be wonderful to finally have prospective players in town and to see the Tomahawks logo out on the ice again.”
