Attack Ink McNiven

Press Release

The Owen Sound Attack is announcing that they have signed goaltender Michael McNiven to an Ontario Hockey League contract.

McNiven was the Attack’s 4th Round Pick in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection and was the third goalie taken in the draft. The 6’1, 186lb netminder spent the 2012/2013 season with the Halton Hurricanes Minor Midget squad where he posted an 11-9 record, highlighted with a 1.48 Goals Against Average.

“We’re very pleased to have signed Michael.”, stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “When we drafted Michael, we knew he had tremendous potential and character and are looking forward to watching him compete for a spot on our roster in camp.”

Brandon Hope will be returning to the Attack crease in the fall, however; the backup job is up for grabs as Jordan Binnington is not expected back in an Attack uniform. Aaron Taylor, who appeared in one game for the Attack last season will also be in camp, along with 2013 11th Round Pick, Tyler Richardson.

McNiven is currently attending the Ontario Under 17 Camp in Oshawa, ON, along with fellow draftees Ethan Szypula, Tyler MacArthur, Ryan Heeps and Connor Walters.

Attack Rookie Camp is set to open on Monday, August 26th in Owen Sound.
