The Owen Sound Attack is pleased to announce that they have signed 2012, 5th Round Selection Thomas Schemitsch to a standard Ontario Hockey League player agreement. Thomas is the younger brother of former Attack defenseman and OHL Champion, Geoffrey. Geoffrey suited up for the Attack after being a free agent invite to camp in 2009. He played for the Attack from 2009-2012, scoring the winning goal in Game 6 of the 2011 OHL Finals against Mississauga.
The 6’3, 190lb rearguard spent the 2012/2013 season with the Toronto Titans Major Midget team where he tallied 11 goals and 9 assists for 20 points in 25 games played.
“Sending Thomas back to Midget last year was a big decision for us.”, stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “We were extremely pleased with his showing at camp last year and with his progress throughout last season. We are very excited to have him locked up.”
Schemitsch is described as a big, physical defenseman with a strong presence and the ability to move the puck up ice quickly. Schemitsch will join Chris Bigras, Kurtis MacDermid, Brayden Rose and Alex Annecchiarico on the blueline with a slew of young prospects coming to camp, including 2013 2nd Round pick, Tyler MacArthur.
The Attack wish to welcome Thomas and his family back to the Bayshore and look forward to seeing some familiar faces.
