Attack Sign MacArthur

Press Release

The Owen Sound Attack is pleased to announce that they have signed 2013 2nd Round Pick, Tyler MacArthur to a standard Ontario Hockey League player agreement contract.

MacArthur spent the 2012/2013 season with the Barrie Colts Minor Midget AAA team where he put up 6 goals and 29 assists to go along with 64 Penalty Minutes in 57 games played. The 6’3, 175lb Collingwood resident was taken 37th overall by the Attack this spring.

“We felt very fortunate that Tyler was still available when we were selecting in the 2nd Round.”, said Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “He had a strong showing at the recent Ontario Under 17 Camp and we are thrilled to have him signed and on board with our organization.”

Tyler is described by OHL Central Scouting as a, "skilled, offensive minded defenseman that is not afraid to take chances on the ice. He has an above average skill set, accompanied by a very good shot and is an excellent skater.".

Tyler is the 4th prospect Dale DeGray has signed this off season, having agreed to terms with Ethan Szypula (2013 1st Round), Thomas Schemitsch (2012 5th Round) and Michael McNiven (2013 4th Round). MacArthur will join Schemitsch and Russian Import Pick, Damir Sharipzyanov on the list of defenseman new to the Attack blueline.

MacArthur, Schemitsch and Sharipzyanov will join veterans Chris Bigras, Brayden Rose, Kurtis MacDermid and Alex Annecchiarico on the blueline roster coming into training camp, along with several other Attack hopefuls.

A full Rookie Camp roster is expected later this week.
