"Our trip to Russia is something that our fans are very excited about and we want to share all of our experiences overseas," said Zack Fisch, Broadcaster/Media Relations Coordinator for the Fighting Saints. "This new website will allow fans to learn more about the places we are going, and get a first hand look at the experiences we are having. DubuqueFightingSaints.com/Russia will be the place to go to follow the team every step of the way."
The website, created by McCullough Creative, is dedicated to cover all aspects of the team's trip to Russia, and help fans not only stay up to date, but also give them a chance to learn more about the Junior Club World Cup and Russia.
The website contains an, "About Mocsow & Omsk," page that will help educate fans about cities the Fighting Saints will be traveling to, and the arenas the team will be skating in. An "About the Tournament," page provides more information on the Junior Club World Cup, which enters its third year. Additionally, a feature on the front page allows fans to compare the time and date in Dubuque to what it is across the globe in Russia.
A key feature of the site is the blog that will be updated throughout the club's trip. Fisch will be blogging about the team's experiences throughout the entire duration of trip overseas in the "Broadcaster Blog." Additionally, players and other personnel will share their thoughts about playing in Russia with special guest blogs.
The Fighting Saints, in conjunction with the USHL, will be taking a large amount of video footage of the team's activities in Russia, and the new webpage allows for video integration so fans can experience the sites and sounds. Additionally, with all games being broadcast on the radio by Super Hits 106, fans have easy access to link to streaming audio of the games on the new site.
DubuqueFightingSaints.com/Russia also features an entire tournament schedule as well as a roster for the Fighting Saints, and the latest news and notes. Content will be updated daily while the team is overseas.
The Fighting Saints will be hosting a Russia Sendoff event on Saturday. The event will feature an open practice and a controlled scrimmage on the ice, and fans can meet the players in a post-practice autograph session. The event will also feature a Fighting Saints merchandise clearance sale. The merchandise clearance sale runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with Fighting Saints apparel and novelty items on sale. A wide variety of select items will be 25-75% off. The team will take the ice at 11 a.m. for a practice and controlled scrimmage, which will last around two hours. The autograph session will follow.
The Fighting Saints trip to Russia is sponsored in part by American Trust, Kwik Stop and Dairy Queen, and Mark and Cheryl Falb.
