– The Mississauga Steelheads are pleased to announce that their 2nd
round pick from the 2013 OHL Priority Selection, Jesse Barwell, has
committed to the team and has signed an Ontario Hockey League agreement.
Barwell was chosen by the Steelheads in the 2nd round, 26th overall
after recording 34 goals and 45 assists in 71 games played with the OHL
Cup winning Oakville Rangers minor midget team. Earlier this year the
Oakville, Ontario native participated in the 2013 OHL Gold Cup
tournament, posting 3 goals and 1 assist in 5 games for team OMHA White.
Steelheads Head Coach and GM, James Boyd describes the 5’11”, 187lb
centre as “a smart, skilled player with a great work ethic. It is
exciting to add a player of his caliber to our existing line-up.”
Barwell, who was on hand at the Hershey Centre on Monday with his
family is looking forward to his future with the Steelheads and getting
things started at training camp. “I’m really excited to be here this
year and for the opportunity to play with some of the new draftees and
veterans. I look forward to helping the team be successful and to be a
part of this great organization.”
Along with first round pick, Sean Day and second round pick Austin
Gerhart, the Mississauga Steelheads have signed their top three picks
from the 2013 Priority Selection.
The Steelheads welcome Jesse and his family to the Mississauga Steelheads organization.
