ort Moody Panthers Wrap Up Training Camp & Sign Two Players

Press Release sent to the World of Junior Hockey

The Port Moody Panthers wrapped up their 2013 Training Camp with an entertaining Burgundy-White game on Sunday afternoon which saw Team Burgundy came out on top 4-3.
"There was an abundance of good feeling at main camp this past weekend," said Panthers GM and Head Coach Jamie Jackson. "The focus and overall enthusiasm was noticeably high."

The Panthers signed two players directly from main camp who were among the stand outs, 1996-born forward Taylor Leger and 1997-born defenseman Evan Locke.

Leger, a left winger, comes from the North Shore Winter Club Midget A1 team while Locke played last season with the Langley Eagles Midget A1 team. He also played five games in Port Moody as a affiliate player in 2012-13 and practiced regularly with the Panthers.
"Finding the right group can be a difficult process full of difficult decisions and there were certainly a number of those on Sunday night after the intra-squad game," Jackson continued. "Despite Taylor and Evan both signing with our team, we still have a long way to go, as now 15 players are off  to Junior A and Major Junior training camps. We certainly wish each of them the best of luck with their tryouts."
The Panthers now prepare for a stretch which sees them play five exhibition games in five days, starting Wednesday night at the Port Moody Arena against the Grandview Steelers.
Jackson added, "With so many games in such a short period of time, it gives myself and the coaching staff a good handle on what our team identity will look like for the beginning of the season."
