The Ottawa 67’s today announced the team’s player leadership group for the 2013-14 season. Taylor Fielding, Joseph Blandisi and Ryan Van Stralen will serve as Alternate Captains supporting Captain Sean Monahan.
“We have an exciting young team this year and our three alternate captains will lead by example,” said Head Coach and General Manager Chris Byrne. “Taylor Fielding competes on every shift in all situations, Joseph Blandisi has great hockey sense and a strong will to win, and Ryan Van Stralen is a hard worker who sticks-up for his teammates. They’re a solid group of players and I’m confident they’ll do a great job as our player leadership group.”
Captain Sean Monahan is attending the Calgary Flames training camp, attempting to make their NHL roster. “We don’t know if Sean will be back with us this season,” said Byrne. “He’s a tremendous talent and a strong leader and we’ll either welcome him back or wish him well with the Flames.”
The 67’s play their home opener this Friday September 20th against the Belleville Bulls at the Canadian Tire Centre. The team has organized a pre-game salute to the East Nepean Eagles, the local Little League baseball team that won this year’s Canadian Championship and then represented our country at the Little League World Series in Williamsport PA. Game time is 7:30 PM and tickets can be ordered online at www.Ottawa67s.com or by telephone at 613.232.6767 x1.
