Chiefs reaquire Shay Laurent

Press Release

The Chilliwack Chiefs have reacquired veteran defenseman Shay Laurent from the Coquitlam Express in exchange for future considerations. The 20 year old Laurent suited up for 110 games in 2 regular seasons for the Chiefs recording 33 points and 121 penalty minutes during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 campaigns.

The Fort Mackay, Alberta product is thrilled to be returning to Chilliwack, “I want to thank Barry Wolff and the Coquitlam Express for providing me the opportunity to go back to Chilliwack for my final season of junior hockey. My heart has always been with the Chiefs and I can’t wait to rejoin the club.”

Chiefs General Manager and Head Coach Harvey Smyl is happy to have the experienced blue liner back, “Shay is the true definition of a Chilliwack Chief, he works hard, cares a lot about his teammates, never complains and  is very humble.”

With the transaction the Chiefs have had to release 17 year old defenseman Michael Willms. We would like to thank Michael for his commitment to the Chiefs Hockey Organization and wish them the best of luck in his future hockey endeavors.
