Erie Insurance and UPMC Health Plan will sponsor the Erie Otters home opener

Erie, Pa – The Erie Otters Hockey Club is proud to announce a partnership with Erie Insurance and UPMC Health Plan to sponsor the team’s home opener Saturday, October 5, 2013, which is also the first event held at the newly renovated Erie Insurance Arena.

Erie Insurance and UPMC Health Plan will present all fans in attendance with an Erie Insurance Arena ceramic replica. The replicas will commemorate the first event to be held in the newly renovated arena.

“The community has eagerly awaited the opening of the Erie Insurance Arena, and it’s exciting that the debut coincides with the Erie Otter’s home opener,” said Sherri Silver, senior vice president of Marketing at Erie Insurance. “The work that Erie County Convention Center Authority has done to renovate the facility is truly remarkable. The Arena is a vital asset that will continue to have a strong and lasting impact on Erie’s economy.”

“UPMC Health Plan is proud to be a part of the grand opening ceremonies for the Erie Insurance Arena,” said Charles “Boo” Hagerty, Vice President for Northern Tier Markets for UPMC Health Plan. “As members of the Erie community for nearly 15 years, we understand how important this building is to our region, and we are delighted to help commemorate this special event. The transformation of the arena is a visual symbol of the progress being made by downtown Erie, and it is also a sign of what the future holds for us and our great community.”

The Erie Otters open their home schedule Saturday, October 5 against the North Bay Battalion at 7 p.m. All fans are encouraged to be at their seats at this time for special opening ceremonies of the arena. Individual game tickets for the home opener go on sale Saturday, September 10 at 10 a.m.
