Press Release

Sept. 5 - The Coquitlam Express are proud to announce the acquisition of goaltender, Gordie Defiel, from the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL.

The '93 born native of Stillwater, MN, played in the 2013 RBC Cup with the Minnesota Wilderness of the SIJHL. Defiel posted an impressive 1.39 G.A.A. in 31 games. He was also named to the Superior International Junior Hockey League All-Star Team.

It has been a busy few days for the Express front office with a number of players moving on from the Express. Goaltender, Daniel Urbani, and forward Garrett Forster were parts of the deal going back to Brooks in exchange for Defiel.

In separate trades, Travis Stephens was moved to Trail in exchange for cash. Both Mitch Fyffe (to Surrey) & Will Cook (Langley) were also traded in exchange for future considerations.

The last component of the trade with Brooks included D Bryce Eviston, who came to the Express via Vernon during the development of the trade.

The entire Express organization wishes all of the above players the best of luck with their new teams.
