RALSTON, NE – With the deadline looming for United States Hockey League (USHL) teams to submit their opening 23-man rosters for the 2013-14 season, the Omaha Lancers traded rookie goaltender Atte Tolvanen to the Minnesota Magicians of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) in exchange for future considerations, the team announced Wednesday.
“Atte is an excellent young player that has a lot of potential,” said Lancers Head Coach and General Manager Brian Kaufman on Thursday. “We wish him nothing but good luck and great success with the Magicians.” Tolvanen, a native of Vihti, Finland, split time with veteran goaltender Cole Bruns and fellow rookie Hayden Hawkey in net for the Lancers in the 2013 preseason. In a pair of preseason appearances, Tolvanen earned a 0-0-1 record with a 2.95 goals-against average and a .842 save percentage. All told, Tolvanen surrendered three goals on 19 total shots faced while in a Lancers uniform.
