Steelheads Acquire Bryson Cianfrone from North Bay

Mississauga, ON - The Steelheads are pleased to announce they have acquired forward Bryson Cianfrone from the North Bay Battalion in exchange for a 3rd round pick in 2014.

Cianfrone, a 5’8”, 170 lb native of Stoney Creek, was drafted in the 3rd round, 49th overall by the Battallion at the 2011 OHL Priority Selection after playing his minor hockey with the Minor Midget AAA Toronto Marlboros. Cianfrone split time with the Oakville Blades and Toronto Junior Canadiens in 2011-2012 before joining the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders of the USHL for the 2012-2013 season. In 52 games with the Rough Riders, Cianfrone recorded 6 goals and 15 assists while adding 35 penalty minutes.

“I am really glad to be joining the Mississauga Steelheads of the OHL, I think it is a great opportunity and cannot wait to start with the coaching staff” said Cianfrone. Steelheads GM and Head Coach, James Boyd is also looking forward to having Cianfrone in Mississauga. “We are happy that Bryson has decided to further his development with the Steelheads and the OHL. Bryson brings speed, skill and smarts to our team.”
Cianfrone, who had originally committed to attend the University of Michigan for the 2013-2014 season will join the Steelheads for the upcoming OHL season which opens on Thursday as the Steelheads visit the Niagara Ice Dogs.

The Steelheads organization welcomes Bryson and his family to Mississauga.
