Sting deal Basso to Knights

Press Release

Sarnia, On – Sarnia Sting Director of Hockey Operations Bill Abercrombie announced that the hockey club has sent overage defenceman Alex Basso to the London Knights in exchange for a 2nd round pick in 2015 (Barrie’s) and two 3rd round picks in 2014 (Barrie’s and Kingston’s).

The Sting had originally acquired Basso prior to the 2011-12 season from Belleville in exchange for Garrett Hooey.

Abercrombie explains the deal from the Sting perspective.

“We are very happy with the draft picks we got in return for Alex.  We needed to restock draft picks that were in the early rounds and we have accomplished that with this trade.  We have a group of very good young defencemen who are ready to contribute and Alex now has a chance to go play in the Memorial Cup.  This is a fair deal for both teams.”
