The Guelph Storm Hockey Club announced today that they have acquired
goaltender Justin Nichols from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in
exchange for a third round (Plymouth’s) selection in 2015.
Nichols is entering his second season in the OHL having played 24
games last year with the Soo. As a rookie, the St. Catharines native had
a record of 10-7-1-1, a save percentage of 0.892 and a goals against
average of 3.52. The 18 year old also recorded one shutout against the
Peterborough Petes in March of last year.
“We have had a strong interest in Justin since his OHL draft in
2011,” Storm GM Mike Kelly said. “He has a very high compete level and
great puck handling abilities. His 10 win 7 loss record as a 17 year old
rookie with the Greyhounds was one of the very best among rookie
goaltenders last year. We welcome Justin and his family to the Storm
