Storm acquire Justin Nichols from the Soo

Press Release

The Guelph Storm Hockey Club announced today that they have acquired goaltender Justin Nichols from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in exchange for a third round (Plymouth’s) selection in 2015.

Nichols is entering his second season in the OHL having played 24 games last year with the Soo. As a rookie, the St. Catharines native had a record of 10-7-1-1, a save percentage of 0.892 and a goals against average of 3.52.  The 18 year old also recorded one shutout against the Peterborough Petes in March of last year.

“We have had a strong interest in Justin since his OHL draft in 2011,” Storm GM Mike Kelly said. “He has a very high compete level and great puck handling abilities. His 10 win 7 loss record as a 17 year old rookie with the Greyhounds was one of the very best among rookie goaltenders last year. We welcome Justin and his family to the Storm organization.”
