Dauphin, MB – The Host Committee of the
2014 Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup is busy preparing to host
the League Commissioners of the four western junior hockey leagues on
October 15th and 16th, as they perform a site tour of the host city.
The commissioners of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL),
Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League
(SJHL), and Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) make up the Western
Canada Cup Steering Committee. While in Dauphin they will acquaint
themselves with the city’s facilities and services, and get up to speed
on the work performed by the Host Committee thus far.
There will be a press conference attended by the League Commissioners
and Host Committee chairs on Wednesday, October 16th at 10:00 am at
Credit Union Place in Dauphin. All media are encouraged to attend.
The 2014 Western Canada Cup will include the Dauphin Kings of the
Manitoba Junior A Hockey League (host team) and the champion of each of
the four western leagues. The 13-game tournament will include a
round-robin schedule followed by a 3-game page play-off two teams
advancing to the national championships. The Western Canada Cup
Champion and the runner-up will both represent Western Canada at the
2014 RBC Cup National Junior A Championship.
