MUSKEGON, Michigan (October 4th) – The Muskegon Lumberjacks have
announced that affiliate Defenseman Jake McCarthy has made his college
commitment to play for the University of Massachusetts Minutemen out of
the Hockey East Association following his junior career.
McCarthy, the Dedham, Massachusetts native, was Muskegon’s
fourth-round pick (53rd overall) in the 2013 USHL Phase Two Draft and
appeared in four preseason games this season with the Lumberjacks.
Prior to this season, McCarthy spent the previous three seasons playing
for St. Sebastian’s (Massachusetts) School totaling 22 points (2 goals
and 20 assists) in 76 games played.
This season, McCarthy is playing for the Portland Jr. Pirates out of
the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) and has suited up in two
games so far.
