Press Release
Hockey fans have a thrilling event to add to their calendars this winter. The Saskatoon Blades Skills Competition, presented by Merlin Ford Lincoln, is set to take place Sunday, January 26th, at Credit Union Centre.
A skills competition is brand new to the Blades and their fans and it’s already a stir in the locker room.
"It'll be a lot of fun," said Saskatoon Blades alternate captain Nathan Burns. "We'll get to show the fans what we can do."
Third year Blade Nick Zajac echoed Burns comments. "I'm excited. It'll show off who's the fastest skater, who's got the hardest shot. We'll get to see who's got a lot of skill on the team."
The addition to the Blades schedule stems from a new partnership with Merlin Ford Lincoln. The agreement makes Merlin the exclusive auto dealer of the Saskatoon Blades Hockey Club for the next three years.
"The skills event speaks to what our partnership is all about – finding new ways to serve our customers, Blades fans and the community better than ever. Both Merlin and the Blades have been serving the community for more than 50 years and we are excited to keep building on that,” says Jason Bews, president of Merlin Ford Lincoln.
"We are thrilled to partner with Jason," says Saskatoon Blades managing partner Colin Priestner. "Merlin Ford Lincoln is a great brand and we share the same values. It’s all about how we can best serve our customers and, by extension, the city and the province."
The Skills Competition will feature great events such as the Ford Mustang Fastest Skater and the Ford F-150 Hardest Shot. Fans will be able to participate even before the event begins with the chance to win some cool prizes. They just need to follow the Blades on Twitter and like them on Facebook to find out how to predict which player will win certain categories.
