Centennials add forward Devin Oakes to roster

Press Release

The Merritt Centennials are pleased to announce the signing of Prince Rupert, BC product Devin Oakes. Devin comes to the Centennials from the Kamloops Blazers(WHL), where the 18-year old forward suited up after spending the majority of last season with the Kamloops Storm(KIJHL).

"We are excited to add Devin to our group today. He is a hard-nosed player that will help to make us tougher to play against." Luke Pierce said of the 6 foot 1, 195-pound right handed shooter.

After playing in 8 playoff games with the Blazers last season, Pierce says his experience will be welcomed, "Devin will add some valuable experience to our group as well after experiencing games in the tough WHL playoffs last year with a very good Kamloops team. We look forward to seeing him on the ice tonight in Kelowna and welcome him to the community of Merritt."

Oakes posted 8 goals and 13 assists in 32 games with the Storm in 2012/13, while appearing in 1 regular season game with the Blazers and 8 playoff games. This season, he had been held pointless in a pair of games.

The entire Centennials organization would like to welcome Devin to the team!
