Rebels make deal with Blades; MacLachlan sent to BCHL

RED DEER, AB – Brent Sutter, General Manager/Head Coach of the Red Deer Rebels Hockey Club, announced today the acquisition of 17-year old forward Evan Polei from the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for 18-year old forward Cory Millette.  Millette had been playing with the Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

Polei is in his first year in the Western Hockey League and has played 2 games with the Blades this season.  He was an 11th round pick of Saskatoon in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. Polei played for Edmonton’s South Side Athletic Club last year in the Alberta (AAA) Midget Hockey League, where he had 17 goals, 15 assists for 32 points, and 64 penalty minutes in 34 games.

Also announced today, the Rebels reassigned defenceman Jake MacLachlan to the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the British Columbia Hockey League, MacLachlan played 5 games this season registering 1 assist.
