CAMBRIDGE, ON -- The OHA/GOJHL Players of the Month for September for
the Western Conference are: Forward Michael Verboom – Chatham Maroons,
Goaltender Trevor Wheaton – Leamington Flyers, and Defenseman Jake
McGhee – Leamington Flyers.
Chatham Maroons Captain Michael Verboom was named the Forward of the
Month for the Western Conference for September based on his strong play,
tallying 16 points. The 5'11, 175lbs centre from Iona Station, Ontario
lead the Maroons in scoring with 7 goals and 9 assists for the month of
September. Michael was dominant in the September 10th game versus
Lambton Shores where he recorded 5 points (3G, 2A).

Trevor Wheaton has been an early season standout for the Leamington
Flyers, leading the GOJHL in GAA. Wheaton’s strong play in September has
earned him the honour of Goalie of the Month for the Western Conference
in September. Essex, Ontario’s Wheaton, posted 4 wins without a loss in
September, with a 1.25 GAA and .945 Save Percentage. The 5’11, 180lbs
goalie is a big reason for the Flyers’ early season success.

Defenseman Jake McGhee is in his third season with the Leamington
Flyers, and his solid defensive play has earned him Defenseman of the
Month honours for the Western Conference for September. The 5’11, 180lbs
blue-liner has helped make Leamington one of the hardest teams in the
Western Conference to score against.

The OHA/GOJHL Players of the Month are awarded monthly to the top
Forward, Goalie and Defenseman in the GOJHL’s three conferences: Golden
Horseshoe Conference, Midwestern Conference, and the Western Conference.
