Source Embroidery SJHL Power Rankings

Press Release

1-La Ronge Ice Wolves (6-1) … 1st last week
LaClare is proof you don’t always have to play Midget AAA to emerge as a Junior ‘A star.

2-Kindersley Klippers (6-1-1) … 2nd last week
Without a regulation loss in four and it could be argued a few of their key guys have yet to hit their stride.

3-Yorkton Terriers (6-3) … 3rd last week
Some issues keeping the puck out, but overall they’ve been very solid.

4-Melville Millionaires (5-2-1-1) … 7th last week
It’s funny how a meaningless website column can motivate players.  #buyaprogram has taken off and somehow these guys have managed to be one of the league’s better teams through the first month.

5-Estevan Bruins (3-2-1-1) … 4th last week
It’s not their fault they didn’t play last week.

6-Melfort Mustangs (4-4) … 6th last week
Sloan comes alive and watch out for Travis Mayan.  He has explosive potential.

7-Humboldt Broncos (4-4) … 5th last week
Back in the win column after a two week struggle.  Plenty of depth.  They’ll be heard from again.

8-Flin Flon Bombers (3-3) … 8th last week
A bit of a slow start through the first month, now they head south and that’s never easy so we will see what they are made of in the next seven days or so.

9-Battlefords North Stars (3-5) … 10th last week
Maybe they have it sorted out?  They’ve won two in a row after dropping five of six.  Still lots to like.

10-Weyburn Red Wings (3-6) … 11th last week
The rebuild would move a little faster if they could score a bit more.

11-Nipawin Hawks (3-6-1) … 9th last week
Winless in four despite an explosive top line.  The goals against are, simply, too high.

12-Notre Dame Hounds (1-4) … 12th last week
In a tough division and they dropped their only game last week.

WHO’S HOT

Tayler Thompson, Yorkton (5-3-7-10) … Terriers have prided themselves as a four line team for the last few years, but it’s clear they have some top heavy players this season.

Cam Blair, Flin Flon (4-2-6-8) … Bombers are hopeful he’s about ready to take flight.

Owen LaClare, La Ronge (5-8-1-9) … Give the kid ice time and he scores.  And, scores.  And, scores some more.

Igor Leonenko, Battlefords (6-6-1-7) … Transition period looks to be over for Leonenko, who could really be a factor as the season progresses.

Allen Kilback, Melville (5-2-8-10) … If he can stay healthy, he’s going to appear in this column lots.

Tyler Fuhr, La Ronge (2-1, 2.01, .943) … LaClare and Beauregard keep scoring; while Fuhr and Sydora keep them out at the other end.  It’s a recipe for success.  Simple really.

Austin Rediron, Melfort (2-0, 1.92, .930) …Who would have thought he was this ready this soon?
