The Penticton Vees Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce the signing of import forward Jake Ahlgren (95).
President, General Manager and Head Coach Fred Harbinson on the signing, “Jake
attended our 2011 spring camp as an underage player, and we were very
impressed with his skill level and overall potential. The family
recently decided that they wanted to give Jake a fresh start here in
Penticton. At 6'1" 185 pounds, Jake adds good size to our forward group,
and is intelligent and responsible on the ice.”
The 18
year-old comes to Penticton via the United States Hockey League’s (USHL)
Sioux Falls Stampede. This season Ahlgren appeared in two games for the
Stampede picking up one assist. Last season, the Fergus Falls,
Minnesota product appeared in 32 games collecting three goals and eight
points. Prior to the USHL, Ahlgren played two seasons of high school
hockey in his hometown. In 2011-12, as a junior, Ahlgren tallied 23
goals and 55 points in 27 games playing varsity hockey.
With the
addition of Ahlgren, the Vees are now carrying seven imports and a full
22-man roster. Ahlgren will wear number 23 and make his Vees debut this
weekend when the Vees host the Prince George Spruce Kings and the
Powell River Kings.
