Vees add to Roster

Press Release

The Penticton Vees Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce the signing of import forward Jake Ahlgren (95).

President, General Manager and Head Coach Fred Harbinson on the signing, “Jake attended our 2011 spring camp as an underage player, and we were very impressed with his skill level and overall potential. The family recently decided that they wanted to give Jake a fresh start here in Penticton. At 6'1" 185 pounds, Jake adds good size to our forward group, and is intelligent and responsible on the ice.”

The 18 year-old comes to Penticton via the United States Hockey League’s (USHL) Sioux Falls Stampede. This season Ahlgren appeared in two games for the Stampede picking up one assist. Last season, the Fergus Falls, Minnesota product appeared in 32 games collecting three goals and eight points. Prior to the USHL, Ahlgren played two seasons of high school hockey in his hometown. In 2011-12, as a junior, Ahlgren tallied 23 goals and 55 points in 27 games playing varsity hockey.

With the addition of Ahlgren, the Vees are now carrying seven imports and a full 22-man roster. Ahlgren will wear number 23 and make his Vees debut this weekend when the Vees host the Prince George Spruce Kings and the Powell River Kings.
