Vipers acquire D-man Wilson in exchange for Martin

Press Release

The Vernon Vipers have acquired defenceman Jared Wilson(94) from the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in exchange for forward Craig Martin (95) and future considerations.

Wilson is in his second BCHL season and was leading the Bulldogs in scoring with 3 goals and 6 assists in 9 games.  The 6’3 190 pound product of Calgary is committed to RPI for the 14-15 season.  Last season he recorded 10 goals and 22 assists in 50 games.

Martin was in his second season with Vipers having recorded 3 goals and 4 assists in 9 games.  Martin has also secured a scholarship for next season to Quinnpiac University.

Head Coach and General Manager Jason Williamson likes the trade but admits it was tough one to complete.  “Any time you have to trade away a player that has been with you for a while it is extremely difficult.  Marty is a great person and an exceptional hockey player but as you know you have to give up something to get something and we are very happy to be adding Jared to our program.”

Wilson is expected to arrive in Vernon on Wednesday and make his Viper debut on Friday in Prince George.

The Vipers would like to welcome Jared to the club and wish Craig the best of luck in the future.
