Press Release
DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings today agreed to terms
with right wing Anthony Mantha on a three-year entry-level contract. In
accordance with club policy, additional details will not be disclosed.
Mantha, 19, was selected by Detroit this past June in the first round
(20th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-5, 204-pound
forward has gotten off to a fast start this season with the Val d’Or
Foreurs, leading the QMJHL with 23 points (13-10-23) in only eight
contests. Last season, he was the league’s only 50-goal scorer, tallying
89 points (50-39-89) in 67 games and ranking 10th overall in scoring.
He also added 12 points (5-7-12) in nine postseason contests. A native
of Longueuil, Quebec, Mantha has compiled 158 points (83-75-158) in 139
major junior games.
