Beaudoin suspended for five games

Press Release

The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc, today suspended Charles-David Beaudoin of the Drummondville Voltigeurs for 5 games. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on November 9 against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.

On the play, the opponent received a pass along the boards at the red center line.

He cut to the middle of the ice and headed towards the blue line, his head was down and was in a vulnerable position.

The player at fault skated towards his opponent and delivered a stern check.

Upon impact, the player at fault propelled himself upwards and his skates left the ice.

The hit was simultaneously to the opponent’s body and head.

This was a dangerous hit and the impact was violent given the speed of both players.

The injury to the opponent was considered in the the decision.

This was the first offence for the player at fault.

The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed videos of the incident, considered the officials report, spoken to the players and organizations involved and after consulting the Advisory Committee for disciplinary action.
