Chartrand commits to UND

Press Release

The Flin Flon Bombers are pleased to announce that 1994 born defenseman Danys Chartrand (Winnipeg, MB) has committed to the University of North Dakota NCAA Division I men’s hockey team for the 2015-16 season.

After two seasons with his hometown Wild in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League, Chartrand broke in with the Bombers last season where the defensive defenseman registered four assists in 37 games.  So far this season the 6’2, 190 pounder has one goal and four assists in 14 games.

“We are extremely excited for Danys,” said Head Coach and General Manager.  “To have a guy commit to a program like that shows how valuable of a player he really is.  "Danys had a great showcase weekend and had had a lot of interest from a lot of schools."

Formerly the Fighting Sioux, the men’s hockey program plays in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, but prior to 2011, played in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association where they have 10 Tournament Titles, 15 regular season titles and 7 NCAA Division I Championships.

"I'm really excited and am very happy with this opportunity," said Chartrand.  "I couldn't have gotten this opportunity without coming to Flin Flon and I'm so happy that I chose to come here.
