Eric Schierhorn to play for Team USA in 2013 Four Nations Cup in Finland

MUSKEGON, Michigan (November 5th) – The Muskegon Lumberjacks are proud to announce that Goaltender Eric Schierhorn has been invited to participate for Team USA in the 2013 Under-18 Four Nations Cup taking place this week from November 6-10th in Kupittaa, Finland.

Schierhorn, the Anchorage, Alaska native, is currently in his first season with the Lumberjacks and has appeared in eight games this season compiling a record of 4-4-0 with a 2.35 goals-against average to go along with a .927 save percentage and one shutout.

“It’s an honor anytime you get a chance to play for your country and represent the stars and stripes,” said Schierhorn.  “I’m excited to get to Finland and play some hockey.”

The 2013 Under-18 Four Nations Tournament with feature four teams in Team USA, Finland, Sweden, and Switzerland.  Team USA will play three games, once against each team, with the tournament champion being decided after the three games have been played.

In terms of their schedule, Team USA will play an exhibition game tomorrow against Finland at 11:00 am EST and will begin their tournament on Friday against Sweden at 9:00 am EST followed by a contest Saturday against Finland at 10:00 am EST and conclude the tournament on Sunday versus Switzerland at 6:00 am EST.  Team USA has claimed the last five Under-18 Four Nations Tournaments.

In addition, the Lumberjacks have added three affiliate players to participate in the team’s three home games this week in Goaltender Ryan Larkin (Clarkson, Michigan), Defenseman Luc Snuggerud (Eden Prairie, Minnesota), and Forward Steven Spinner (Eden Prairie, Minnesota) to fill roster spots left by Connor Hurley (World Junior A Challenge) and Eric Schierhorn (Four Nations Cup).
