Jets forward Louria makes NCAA DI commitment

Press Release

The Janesville Jets, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Michael Louria has made a commitment to play NCAA Division I hockey for UMass-Lowell of Hockey East.

Louria ( 5’11/170), is 19-years-old and calls Wexford, Pennsylvania home.  This season, he appeared in 20 games and has scored 11 goals and had 11 assists for 22 points for the Jets. His 22 points to date is tied for 10th in league scoring and is tied for the Jets team lead.

“We are very proud of Michael  because this commitment is a result of all the hard work he put in on and off of the ice. Michael pushes himself on and off the ice become a better player everyday,” said Janesville head coach Joe Dibble.  “Also to have him commit to the school (U-Mass Lowell) that he wanted to be at from the beginning makes this a great achievement for him."

Louria is also a graduate of the NAPHL. During the inaugural 2009-10 season, Louria played for the Motor City Metal Jackets 16U team, where he ranked 2nd in team scoring that season with 18 points in 20 games. He also had four points in five NAPHL playoff games that season.

Louria is the fifth player on the current 2013-14 Jets roster to have secured an NCAA Division I commitment, joining Kyle Patava (Army), Nick Petrella (Holy Cross) , Jesse Junttila (Northern Michigan), and Austin Priebe (Air Force).
