Keats dons 'C' for Team Canada West

Press Release

Powell River Kings forward and World Junior A Challenge veteran Kurt Keats has been selected as the captain for Team Canada West for this year's event.

Keats played for TCW last year when he was a member of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Winnipeg Blues. He scored one goal, a shorthanded effort, for the silver-medal winning squad in 2012.

The Winnipeg native is one of just two players returning to the team from last year's side; the other is Paul Stoykewych of the Penticton Vees who was also Keats' teammate last year with the Blues.

So far this season with Powell River, Keats has tallied five goals and 15 assists for 20 points in 15 games. He accumulated almost all of those points during a nine-game point streak from Sept. 14 to Oct. 13 in which he registered four goals and 15 helpers.
