The Pikes Peak Miners, proud members of the North American
Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), are please to announce that two members
from the 18U team have signed tenders with NAHL clubs.
Defenseman David Dziezawiec has signed a tender with the NAHL’s Odessa Jackalopes of the South Division and forward Evan Butcher has signed a tender with the NAHL’s Kenai River Brown Bears of the Midwest Division.
Dziezawiec, 17, is coming off a strong event at the most recent
NAPHL 18U Showcase in Romeoville, IL, where he was named as the Franklin
NAPHL Defensive Peak Performer from the event. The native of Colorado
Springs, Colorado, registered five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in four
games during the event as now leads all NAPHL 18 defensemen in scoring
with 16 points. His 16 points is also tied for the team lead. Dziezawiec
(5’11/180) has had at least a point in 11 of his 14 NAPHL games played
thus far.
Dziezawiec has played the past two seasons outside the NAPHL.
However, it isn’t his first stint in the NAPHL as during the 2010-11
season, he played for the Pikes Peak Miners 14U squad. In 10 regular
season games, Dziezawiec had nine points that season and four points in
four playoff games.
Butcher, 17, is in his first season with the Miners at the 18U
level. During the past two seasons, Butcher (5’9/155) has played for the
Las Vegas Storm 16U team, former members of the NAPHL.
The native of Anchorage, Alaska is off to a solid start in his
first 18U season. Through 14 NAPHL games, Butcher has eight points (2
goals, 6 assists). He had an goal and an assist in the most recent NAPHL
18U Showcase event in Romeoville, IL, as the Miners went 3-1. During
the 2011-12 season, Butcher played for the Storm 16U team in the NAPHL
where he had three points in nine regular season games. Last season,
Butcher had 13 points in 41 total games with Las Vegas.
Butcher’s older brother, Alec, is currently the leading scorer for
the Brown Bears and is also an alum of the Pikes Peak Miners having
played for the 18U team during the 2011-12 season and the 16U team
during the 2010-11 season.
